This beautiful monument, which stands in the middle of Whitehall, was completed in 1920 by Sir Edwin Lutyens to commemorate those who died in the First World War.

Remembrance Day
Each year, wreaths of red poppies are placed by the Queen and other VIPs at the Cenotaph on the Sunday nearest November 11 (armistice day 1918) to honour the fallen of both World Wars.
